Connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network on Windows 11
Connecting to a hidden Wi-Fi network on Windows 11 involves a few extra steps compared to connecting to a visible network. Here's how you can do it:
- Open Network Settings:
Click on the "Start" button and then click on the "Settings" (gear icon) to open the Windows Settings menu.
- Go to Network & Internet:
In the Settings window, click on "Network & Internet."
- Select Wi-Fi:
On the left sidebar, click on "Wi-Fi."
- Manage Known Networks:
Under the Wi-Fi section, click on "Network & Security."
- Add a Hidden Network:
Scroll down and find the "Manage known networks" section. Click on "Add a network."
- Enter Network Information:
A window will pop up. Here, you'll need to enter the network name (SSID) of the hidden Wi-Fi network and choose the security type and encryption type WPA3-Personal AES. You might need to know these details in advance. Then click "Next."
- Enter Network Security Key:
If the network is secured with a password, you'll be prompted to enter the network security key (password). Enter the correct key and click "Next."
- Connect Automatically:
You'll have the option to choose whether Windows should connect automatically to this network when in range. Choose your preference and click "Next."
- Connect even if this Network is not Broadcasting:
You'll have the option to choose whether Windows should connect even if this network is not broadcasting. Check the box and click "Next."
- Finish the Setup:
Review the information you've entered, and if everything looks correct, click "Next."
- Connect to the Network:
Windows will now attempt to connect to the hidden Wi-Fi network using the provided information. If all goes well, you'll be connected to the network.
- Network Connected:
Once you're successfully connected, you'll see the network listed under the "Manage known networks" section.
